THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

June – Battle of the Bottles

Date: Thursday June 18th 2019 @ 7.30pm

Host: Jon Webb and Jason B Standing.

Theme: All out whisky warfare, with lions and fighting to the death and everything.

Location: Upstairs Function Room, The Volley, King Street, Bristol

Tickets: Buy Tickets for Battle of The Bottles!!!

Notes: This month we have something a little special planned.

There is not one, but two hosts, who will both be “competing” to be crowned champion whisky selecting person. You, the audience, will be presented with three sets of two drams, fitting into the categories; “Interesting,” “International” and “Impressive”. Your job will be to sample both, to hear the arguments presented for each dram and then to make the tough call of which you would crown winner. After three tough rounds, we will have our victor and to them the spoils of victory will be awarded.

As usual the whiskies will be tasted blind, in an informal atmosphere, where experience and learning are put before the need to know everything, so whether you are whisky mad or whisky curious, you will still enjoy the evening!

April – Supermarket Surprises

Date: Thursday April 28th 2019 @ 7.30pm

Host: Jason B Standing

Theme: Hidden whisky gems from the shelves of a supermarket.

Location: Upstairs Function Room @ The Volley Pub, King Street

Tickets:I would love some tickets, make it so!

Notes:

One of the best places to find keenly-priced whisky is in your ordinary supermarket – and with the average cost of a bottle feeling like it’s creeping up and up and up, it’s easy to forget that there are some very tasty pickings to be found at non-eye-watering prices.  Bristol Whisky Organiser and Whisky Superfan, Jason B Standing will share a selection of delicious gems he’s ferreted out – with a few surprises thrown in!

As usual the whiskies will be tasted blind, in an informal atmosphere, where experience and learning are put before the need to know everything, so whether you are whisky mad or whisky curious, you will still enjoy the evening!

This month you will be treated to six special whiskies, that allow you to taste all that the region has to offer.

January – Whisky Maturation

Date: Thursday January 24th 2019 @ 7.30pm

Host: Jon Webb – @dvdbloke

Theme: Whisky Maturation

Location: Upstairs Function Room @ The Volley Pub, King Street

Tickets: SOLD OUT

Notes: When we talked about holding a session about maturity, we were unanimous in knowing exactly who we wanted to present the session. Sadly they weren’t available, so instead we have Jon Webb – @dvdbloke, who is infamous for his long standing Whisky and Science Fiction blog –  http://scotchandscifi.co.uk

He will be hand selecting seven whiskies from his vast whisky collection to help us explore the subject of maturation. As is standard for our tasting sessions, all the whiskies will be tasted blind, so that we can experience the spirit unhindered by preconception and personal bias. Through tasting the whiskies we will be exploring the effect of cask type, age of the whisky and initial spirit character.

This promises to be a great session, so pick up your tickets ASAP.
